Maybe it's just me, but I'm much more excited about Brown and Chlapik than I am Colin White. Always have been for some reason.

Edit: I think, for me, collegiate players are unpredictable.

Brown is looking very good, he'll be a main stay if he keeps this up. I don't think anyone expected him to be top 6 material so fast.

So is Chabot. I think working a deal for Duchene involving Ceci is okay with me because of how well Chabot is coming along. I think he is ready for the NHL now.

My big take away is actually Chlapik, that guy is doing better then I ever thought he would. When is first saw him play in Charlottetown, he was sloppy, slow and got caught out of position a ton. He's fixed all those issues and is showing he could be a solid NHL player soon.

I'ms till excited for White.
For me with all these young guys coming up and doing so well, I think guys like Smith, JGP,Turris etc have got to be worried about losing their jobs. We can afford to trade from players away because we have back up coming with these young guys

Amen.

Colin White just looks like another run of the mill 3rd line centre. Should be ok both defensively and offensively, but will never just to star status. That's just my early impressions about the guy. Missing training camp is always bad for a young player too.

Brown and Chiapik have star qualities. Both look tremendously skilled and comfortable offensively. Those are the kind of guys with star potential. That said, they are also risky if they don't pan out as they are next to useless on the 3rd and 4th lines. Unlike a White.

I've said it a million times. You can teach well rounded play. You can't teach natural talent.

Brown has impressed me most in this camp. Does not look out of place at all. Looked completely natural playing with Stone and Ryan. He speed is less than to be desired, but the rest of his offensive game seems to be on track.

Chabot looks alright as well. You can tell there are going to be some growing pains with forcing passes, ill-advised pinches, and unnecessary fancy plays, but that is to be expected. Assuming he cracks the lineup, it will be interesting to see how he responds to a full opposing NHL roster.

Brown impressed me last night. In regards to his skating, we said similar things about Stone way back when. He'll never be a speedster, but it hasn't barred his excellence either. Hopefully that's something he works on as time goes on.

Chabot showed flashes of brilliance, but I agree with your assessment. He had that once excellent deke, but then he passed the puck instead of shooting on glorious scoring opportunities. Gotta be a little more selfish.

I think if Brown continues to impress he deserves a few games to start the season. If Brassard doesn't start then I would say he's the most likely candidate. A few games with the big squad could leave him extra hungry to earn a spot later in the year.

Isn't the rule that we have to say "Duchene" 3 times.... Oh Crap!

I'd have to say that you're overpaying for Duchene. Brown could be the real deal so I'm not that sure that I'd be willing to give up on him quite yet. I can't see Ottawa's picks being any more than 25-30th pick overall so I have no problem giving up the 1st picks overall for a good player.

they have a better chance of drafting first overall than 25 to 31

At this point I wouldn't be giving up on Brown, Chabot, White or Chlapik.

I would be comfortable trading away Ceci and a forward like Smith or JGP or someone like that for a Duchene type player. Gets us a #1C that we need and opens up a spot for a young guy

I have noticed that but I 100% get it, he is just defending his team. I'd do the same if the same thing was happening to the Sens. But he does grossly over value Duchene.

I actually wanna hear both sides of this apparent bet he has with someone about Chabot making the NHL

Oh that's me. I said Chabot would be in the NHL last (even playing 1 game - which he did) , I think Coga thought I meant longer

I was going to say, he did play one game. Plus neither of you actually put a time limit on this bet. So i could play next year too. I still think he'll be a main stay this year

No he didn't, he went into the Oilers thread (unwelcome and unrprovoked) trying to do one of his annoying trade bad ottawa players and prospects for good players trades again.

You can ask all the regulars in that thread, AlfieSalad made such a bold claim that he would play last year. He did make the team, and lost. But hes not a man of his word so so he deflects the core of the bet and tries to play semantics.

Fair enough, I think I can settle this, just so that I have this right.

The bet was that Chabot would play in the NHL. if not Alf would delete his account.

Now was there a "playing in NHL Duration" put into this bet?

or a time limit?

The reason I ask is because if it's just playing in the NHL, Chabot has done that. But if it was like "will be a full time NHLer by...." he hasn't done that yet.

This could be resolved very easily

Thank you for your service representing all of us in a highly dangerous world.

I think if you had to take one thing out of this camp it has to do with how strong the young guys look.

When you look at defense it looks to me like as many as 5 guys have serious NHL playing time in their future.

Harpur
Chabot
Jaros
Englund
Lajoie

At forward there are 4 guys showing great potential

White
Brown
Chlapik
Formenton

As each day of training camp progresses I get more and more hopeful and confident the Sens should be patient and allow development evolve. There is real talent gold. No need for high profile trades.

• Colin White broke his wrist in the first preseason game from blocking a shot.

• Brown, Chlapik, and Chabot look amazing.

• Sens are 3-0 with two wins over Toronto, and one over Montreal.

• Högberg has shown some flashes of brilliance.

• Several 'new names' like Randell, Forementon, etc., are playing better than we thought they would.

• A small handful of Sens fans think they're getting Duchene for a bag of pucks.

• Coga is as triggered as ever, but most of us don't blame him.

• Guy Boucher is still a mad scientist when it comes to coaching.

• And Erik Karlsson is still sexy as hell.
